Fabulous large standing reliquary for Saint Vincent De Paul, ornate carved wood , very French of course, curved glass reliquary for this beloved Saint and hand written label " St Vincent de P" with the typical v-shaped decoration among others. Surrounding the small round reliquary is a larger area with fancy papperoles, some gold metalwork, and some pearls which we have no way of knowing if they are natural pearls or fake pearls. Given the age of this piece, they would not be cultured pearls as those had not yet been invented. The small round reliquary measures 3/4" across, the large reliquary area under the curved glass measures 3 & 5/8" wide by 4 & 1/2" tall. The carved wood reliquary measures 10" wide at the widest point, 19" tall and the base projects our 6 & 1/2", a good size to support the reliquary to stand sturdily. On the back the area is sealed with hand written music notes, this could be a hymn to this Saint, not a clue. This is one of the most magnificent reliquary we have ever had, a size suitable for home but also for a Priest. There is no authentication papers, most of those were lost over the years, and usually a reliquary this ornate was prepared by the Sisters for someone's personal uses, in this case probably a Priest originally.
