Lovely and quite old scapular medal, with the Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Mt Carmel on one side and Jesus and His Sacred Heart on the other, with nice decorations at the top of both sides. This is a French medal, created by Firmin Pierre Lasserre, who was a famous sculptor and medallist from 1870 to 1943. From what we can tell, most of his work was done in his earlier years than the later. This medal is signed, with initials on the left of Mary and Lasselle on the right, but it takes a microscope to see it; we knew about the signature as we had one in our personal collection that is readable. The medal measures 7/8" tall including the loop and is 1/2" across. It is not sterling, but a nice silver tone metal heavy for the size and typically French. The details are lovely on both images and in fairly high relief for this type of medal. We lightened the second photo to try to show the signature area.
