Lovely vintage medal for Blessed Marie Leonie, Joined the Marianite Sisters of the Congregation of the Holy Cross in 1854, with final vows in 1857. Taught in Montreal, New York, and Indiana. With 14 of her sisters, she founded the Poor Sisters of the Holy Family, devoted to assisting priests and seminarians, at Memramcook, Nebraska in 1877. She was beatified in 1984 by Pope John Paul II; this medal was made before that date as she is not addresses on it as Blessed. Her canonization is still pending, if you receive blessings or healing from her intercession on your behalf it should be reported to the Vatican. The medal measures 9/16" across and is in good condition. It is much prettier than the photos, it is of a silver tone metal, not sterling, but has lovely gold tone star rays surrounding her image.
