Older fancy silver tone metal Virgin Mary Miraculous Medal, and on the back there is a small item under a golden color lucite or some material used as a permanent seal. It looks to me like a small rectangular chip of wood or could be cloth. Nothing else on this to identify what it is, may have been original to this medal or applied there in the past by a prior owner. I do know there were a some wood relics circulating a while back for trees or something wood that was near Saint Catherine Labouré, and since she was the one associated with the Miraculous medal that would make sense. But this is only one possibility. It could even be a tiny True Cross relic. What we do know is either a person, company , or religious order went to the trouble to put it there permanently. The medal measures 1 1/8" tall and 7/8" wide.
