Fabulous group of lace strips, antique ivory white needle lace, probably French, with black outlining on edges and in the pattern, all original. We acquired this from a large collection of laces from a collector/seamstress, all old and wonderful. This lace measures 3 & 3/4" wide and we have the following lengths in the group: 26", 23", 2 yards + 27" , 2 yards + 9", 1 yard + 31". A lot of lace. As to condition, clean, no bad aromas, very slight age aroma from being stored, airing out will do wonders for it. very few holes considering the age, there are at least two holes in the 26" piece, 1 very small one in the 23" piece, 1 hole and two tiny age spots in one of the long strips. Possibly some other small ones not mentioned, but really nice overall. We have not washed this lace at all. As to the lace technique, it is basically a lace netting with woven in solid flowers with the delicate black outlining, with a netting area with larger holes inside some of the flower "blooms". Black outlining on both top edge and also the slightly scalloped lower edge. Much much prettier than the photos. Price is for the group. Lace age circa 1920 or older in our opinion, and one of the prettiest laces we ever had. Delicate in appearance yet amazingly sturdy as well.
