Fabulous and we think very rare old clip. We were told this was a fur clip, and on the back the prongs face outward and would have been hooked and possibly bent down to attach it to one side of the cape with it being lengthwise, then the other side of the cape placed inside the clip to be snapped shut. I would also leave open the option that this could have been on a very elegant bag? Only a guess, as we have never seen a clip with this type of prong before. Set on a silver shiny metal resembling rhodium plating are four fabulous emerald green glass Art Deco style flowers, with flat side "leaves" and berries of green glass in each center, truly beautiful. Then set in the metal in the background are very tiny rhinestones; and some larger rectangular rhinestones behind each flower as well. This clip measures 3 & 3/4" long and 1 & 3/8" wide and is in good condition, the green glass is lustrous with no damage, mild wear on the metal; there could be a missing tiny rhinestone although we don't see one. These tiny stones may actually be a pale green, or it may be the reflection of the rich green glass in the stones. We are amazed that there is no signature on this piece, but it was surely made by one of the finest companies or designers of the time, we think 1920's to 40's the era. We acquired this from a fellow dealer with extensive knowledge of old jewelry, she called it a fur clip; but also had not seen another one this beautiful in all her years. If you wished to use this as a simple dress clip, the backward prongs could be flattened as they would not be necessary, best done by a jeweler.
