Fabulous and old charm bracelet from the Orient, we think from Japan. The first owner lived close to Japan and China right after the war and brought this back; and we acquired it over 20 years ago. It is of a silver tone metal that we think is some sterling and some not. We do not see any metal markings on the bracelet at all. It has not tarnished over the years. There are 27 charms in all, some are marked silver, a few are marked sterling, one is marked 950, and most are unmarked. My guess is she bought the bracelet with the unmarked charms as a complete unit, then added more Japanese motif charms during her stay. The total length of the bracelet is 7 & 1/2". All the charms appear to be in good condition, having said that we don't know what some of them are supposed to be, not being totally familiar with Japanese culture, but we do recognize many things such as the shoes, fans, mirror, various cooking eating items, gazebo like building, rickshaw, etc. This is so loaded with charms it was hard to photograph. We have really enjoyed this over the years, but no longer wear it now. None of the charms are for sale individually, this is for sale as the entire bracelet with charms only. It is a very unique item you won't see again.
