Lovely older framed art, fine hand painted miniature on porcelain of a young man with earring. This is taken of course from a famous painting, we see this particular image a lot in miniatures especially on porcelain, and this is the finest one we ever saw as to technique and colors. the porcelain measures 3 & 1/2' by 2 & 3/4" and is in a brass frame which is mounted in the larger oval frame with gold tone wood outer frame, soft chocolate brown fabric mat and gold gilt inner frame, all under glass. The overall size is 10 & 1/2" by 8 & 1/2". The porcelain oval has an old sticker on the back with red border and a number and what looks like a dollar sign; and evidence of some writing on the porcelain back long faded. There are two chips off the back, a more recent injury, overlapping to the front including three very small surface chips on the left border front. None of this is visible when in the frame. We have removed the art for photos of the chips. the porcelain is held in its inner frame with two nails inserted through the sides of the frame which hold the backing cardboard in place. The wood frame has small dings here and there but still quite good condition. This came from a fine estate of many miniatures and other art paintings and statuary.
