Offering for sale one of the more unusual brooches I have had, it is a large rectangular pin with some type of crest or family crest in the center, flanked on both sides by a flying fish, very graceful whatever they are, with some type of red stone for eyes. The outer border is a lovely art nouveau design with elegant graceful vines and flower, it appears to be a lotus or water lily. This fantastic piece measures 3" long and 1 & 1/2" tall and is in good condition. The pin fastener on the back is the antique style and in good working condition also. Amazingly there are no signatures or markings on this piece. It is made of a gold colored metal which has the appearance of a fine brass or bronze, with a slight copper cast. It is a fine quality piece with great detail and good construction. The eyes of the flying fish are the correct color for a tiny real ruby, but probably are glass. I have never polished this piece. This came from a fine estate jewelry dealer over 20 years ago.
