Museum quality older Native American squash blossom necklace, fine sterling silver (tested) and we think natural turquoise based on the slight green discolorations from wear on a few of the nuggets and their general appearance, with matrix present and small indentations and crevices typical of natural stones. The naja features five small and one large turquoise stone all surrounded by ornate silver shell designs with ropes and swirls, matching the graduated 12 blossom pendants on the necklace. The beads are fluted and appear to be totally handmade based on the punch-out shape on the ends, in the bench bead style of old. Twelve blossoms plus the large naja, lovely blue - green turquoise; we do not know the mine from which these stones came. They are nicely polished as well. This beauty measures 16" long when laid flat and the naja is a huge 4 inches long. Blossoms and naja strung on a double row of beads on a thick chain, flowing to single chain at the ends. One of the finest squash blossoms we have ever had in our collection. No maker signature and we would not expect there to be one in an older fine squash. This came to use from a long time collector, we were lucky to get several of these necklaces and some rings from them.
