My offering today is this Antique 14K Gold Filled Ladies Chatelaine Wax Seal. It is most likely from around the 1880's to 1890's.
This would have been one item hanging on the Chatelaine, I have no idea why it is not on a complete set but I have read from authoritative sources that the gold chatelaines were often broken up as years ago sellers could make more from individual pieces. I myself suspect that families would have broken sets to give more of "Great Grandmothers" things to more family.
Measuring 5 6/8" long, 6/8" wide at it's widest, this wax seal is a testament to the artistic skills of Victorian craftsmen.
Marked "14 – 1/10 F" meaning One Tenth of the weight of this Seal is 14 Karat Gold. (note; gold filled is more gold than gold plated and keeps an item looking good for decades)
Condition is Excellent Antique with wear commensurate of age and original use. There are a few small nicks around the top clasp, which is not bad for being about 140 years old.
All of my items are returnable with no reason needed as your satisfaction is my top priority. You can see more in my Terms of Sale here on this page.
Shipped in a box to protect with lots of cushion so it arrives in best condition.
