Researching this small pin took time but I was delighted to find out that it was designed and patented by Adolph Katz, the patent date is April 4th, 1950. (157957 being the patent number.)
He is tiny, measuring 1 1/8” wide and 7/8” tall but this pink pachyderm packs plenty of panache. His pink midsection is glass made to look like a pink banded agate and his eye is a bright red stone.
The owner of this hard working elephant sits atop sporting a tiny Indonesian hat atop his head that happens to be a clear faceted stone. His body is a faux seed pearl.
CONDITION: Fine Vintage; I find the pin mechanism a bit tight to open and close. I am sure a jeweler could correct this if you wanted. Otherwise this unsigned Katz designed Coro pin has minimal ware for almost 73 years of pleasing someone.
