Signed Sterling Silver/ Ruby Holly Necklace
This beautiful Sterling Silver and Real Ruby necklace is signed FM 82, which tells us it was made by the Franklin Mint in 1982. It is also stamped Sterling and 925 the number being the indication of genuine Sterling Silver also.
Through researching I found that it is called “The Love So True” and was made by Franklin Mint in October of 82”. My Research also confirmed that the Franklin Mint used real Rubies in this creation.
Your pendant is made to look like a large bow is holding together a wreath made of Ivy Leaves, Holly Leaves and holly berries of which a few are in silver and one, the ruby, has turned red. Often seen in Victorian and Edwardian pieces, the ivy leaf symbolizes everlasting love, immortality, and fidelity. To the Christian world the Holly leaf symbolizes the Crown Of Thorns that Christ wore and the red berries represent the blood He shed for mankind. Thus, The Love So True.
The pendant measures 1 1/8” long and 6/8” at its widest point. The attached Sterling Silver chain is 9” closed and 18” long open. The chain is also marked Sterling, and I see in my pictures that it is starting to tarnish just a little on that tag.
Condition is Excellent Vintage showing no marks or scratches that I can detect.
