Another beautiful Brooch or Pin, this is made by Weiss and comes from the estate of a renowned Pulitzer Prize winner's home. (more on who later)

This pin evokes memories of Christmas in the 60's when I was a child. Two textured, bright, golden bells with articulated clappers that fall just beneath the rim of the bells. The rims are accented with a band of clear crystal stones and help to draw the eye to the moving bell ringers. Tied to the bells above are four pave holly leaves of green crystal half stones and four red crystals simulating holly berries. All of this is done in a beautiful reflective gold tone metal. The pin measures 2 1/8 inches long, 1 ½ inches wide at its widest point.

Condition: There is one tiny nick in the plating near the lowest holly berry stone that is about 1mm wide and not easily seen by the unaided eye. Also this stone and the one above it look to have been professionally re-glued into the piece, but I could only detect that with a jewelers loop. Please see the last photo where I have indicated these items for you. And please note; all items in my shop are unconditionally returnable, I want you to shop with confidence when you are with me. You can see my return policy under Terms Of Sale.

Otherwise all stones are present, bright and shining. The pin action is good and its thumb clasp closes securely.

FYI:

The Estate sale was for items owned by William and Susan Ecenbarger.

William won the Pulitzer Prize for General news in 1980 for his outstanding coverage of the Three Mile Island nuclear accident coverage. (TMI to us locals) He was a reporter and and editor for the Philadelphia Inquirer in his day and also Freelanced with his work having been published in The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Smithsonian Magazine, Esquire, Audubon and other leading newspapers and magazines.

He wrote historical books too; “Walkin' the Line: A Journey from Past to Present Along the Mason-Dixon”, published in 2000 and “Glory by the Wayside: The Old Churches of Hawaii which was co-authored by his wife Susan (who also did the principal photography for the book). This was released in 2008. He not only won the Pulitzer, but in his writing career he also won the George Polk Award, and the Lowell Thomas Travel Writer of the Year among many others.

I am assuming that Susan was the collector of the fabulous jewelry I saw there. Be sure to find the other offerings by Eisenberg Weiss and Pell that I have for you here in my shop.

All returns are accepted without question, please see my Terms of Sale here to the right of this page.
