This early PELL Bowling Ball and Pin Brooch is set in sparkling clear pavé rhinestones which are round and baguette cut. Measuring 1&1/2 inches high and 1&¼ inches wide it is cast in what could be Rhodium Plating. I say this because it has the look of Rhodium however I am not able to test for it at the moment.
This makers mark in capital block letters was used by PELL from 1941 until 1955 when a copyright mark was added, and later changed to script with a copyright mark.
All stones are present, clear and bright. Which is what made this so hard to photograph. I am not a professional and these highly reflective stones were picking up the black of my camera. This is also why I have so few shots of this item, usually I like to give you a look on all sides but the reflection was very hard not to catch.
The pin action and the locking clasp are in excellent condition, in fact the entire pin is in excellent condition...except for the dark spots on the very bottom. They are very tiny and not seen when it is on, but one wonders what could have caused them. This is also why I am not selling this beautiful pin for what a perfect piece would be worth.
You don't have to take my word for it, all items are returnable for any reason you may have. You can see my Terms of Sale in the drop down box to the right of this post.
The PELL jewelry company was started in New York in 1941 by the four Gaita brothers, I have not seen anything on the company since 2006 and they may be out of business. Manufacturers of high end jewelry they made pieces for Walt Disney Productions and The Miss America Beauty Pageants for years.
