Kutztown Pennsylvania is located in the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country (think Amish) and the Kutztown Folk Festival has been going on for about 66 years. I visited this delightful festival back in 1988 where I bought these fun little miniature country decorator items that were made by those wonderful Amish folk.
This Lot of 5 items consists of:
Four tiny bolts of cloth tied up with a ribbon and measures 1 5/8” long, 7/8” wide and 6/8” high.
A wooden washtub and washboard complete with soap suds, soap bar, bubbles and fabric being washed. The creativity here is adorable, as the suds are cotton, the bubbles are faux pearls, and the soap bar is a bit of painted clay. Measuring 1 6/8” wide across he top, it stands 1 6/8” high (from the bottom of the tub to the top of the washboard).
A wooden doll, She is flat and fashioned as an ornament with a hanging cord which is attached to the top of her head by a staple. Her hair consists of 5 knotted twine locks that frame her surprised expression. She has a small scrape on her apron that happened years ago, but I always thought it lend itself to her expression. As in “I just saw that I got a spill on myself, something else to wash!” so I never tried to fix it. She measures 2 6/8” high, 1 7/8” wide at her widest and is not quite 2/8” thick.
A wooden cookbook labeled “COOKING” complete with ingredients to make something tasty! All are wooden and attached and are a Sugar Crock, Rolling Pin and a bowl with 4 eggs, as well as two eggs laying on the book. Measuring 2 6/8” long, 2 1/2” wide and 1 3/8” high (to the top of the Sugar Canister) The dainty flower pattern on both the bowl and rolling pin are delightful I think.
Last but not least, a sweet little wooden chair in pink with a heart cut out of the back. Just 1 5/8” tall and 7/8” wide, I always imagined dolly sitting down to rest after a long day of doing wash.
Condition of all five pieces are excellent vintage. Only the small scratch on dollies apron (see description above and pictures)
is the only damage I can find on them.
I hate to part with them, but I am trying to lighten the amount of things I have since I moved from my large home to a small two bedroom apartment. If you saw this place you would think I just moved in from all of the boxes still being stored here. It's time to move on and letting these things find a new home is good.
Returns are always accepted because Ruby Lane and I want you to be happy with the things you purchase here. You don't need a reason, it's the “Satisfaction Guaranteed” part of the sale that I stand by wholeheartedly. However please do read the entire return policy under “Terms” in the drop down boxes here on the listing page.
Carefully wrapped and shipped to arrive in your hands as it left mine.
