This Vintage Chatelaine Styled Brooch or Pin is from the late 60s. It was a time of discovering the past as well as the future, and some costume jewelry manufacturers looked toward old designs for new markets.
No makers mark, but made quite well it Measures 4” long and 1” wide, it is sure to be an attention grabber on any jacket or shoulder. Done in a pewter looking silver-tone metal three chains dangle from a central crested forget-me-not flower. Each chain has one embellishment and one charm which consists of the Statue of David by Michelangelo, A Harpy from Greek mythology, and what could possibly represent a version of a Claddagh, the Irish symbol of everlasting love.
Quite a mix of charms, and interestingly in the Harpy's feet is an open ring where one can add “a necessity” as the Victorian Ladies called them. (Keys, scissors, needle holders and the like) or you can slip your reading glasses through to secure them and keep them at hand. It does accommodate as I have quite nicely with my thin stemmed glasses. The possibilities are endless that one can add. Wonderful for the Steampunk outfit look too. Just a versatile piece of costume jewelry for your treasure box.
Condition is excellent vintage, No breaks, or scratches and the pin action and thumb clasp work as they should.
