Vintage Victorian Style Stork Embroidery Scissors Clutch Back Lapel Pin

If it looked to be of a time when life was more gentle, and it was a small bit of jewelry it was most definitely collected by one of four family members. Measuring 1” long and almost ½ wide at the base of the handle this “Stork” is made of gold colored plated metal. The design is on the front only, the back is smooth and unmarked as to manufacturer. The clutch closing is made of brass.

Condition is excellent vintage, no marks, dings or dents to be seen.

This clutch pin is fashioned after or “in the style of” Victorian Sewing or Embroidery Scissors that ladies kept handy, sometimes on a chain worn with other items like keys and mechanical pencils on a pin called a Chatelaine.

Not wanting to confuse you, I will add that this is not that. This is a Clutch Back Lapel Pin and not a pair of working scissors nor is it near as old as the real thing would be. It is part of our family estate collection, and no older than the 60s but no newer than the end of the 90s. Of course it would make an excellent gift for a Victorian Loving Friend, or Someone you know that does beautiful needlework, It would even make a nice gift for yourself.

About This Collection: What can one say about family? This one liked to collect small bits of jewelry, lapel pins and other tiny objects. Specifically that was my mother-in-law Catherine, her husband Fred Sr., Her father and mother Clarence and Lou-Ellen. I have come to understand that there was something of a good-nature competition between the four of them at one time. As in who could find the cutest, ugliest, oddest and most work related. They even competed to see if any of them could get a total stranger to give them “a bit of jewelry”.

Spanning from the early 1920s until Catherine stopped collecting in the 90s and with all of her husband's and her parents finds over the years it's quite diverse, and did I mention the many organizations that each one of the four had joined at one time or another. You will be seeing more of it here in my shop moving forward. Some will be in a lot grouping and others like this will be sold individually.
