1940s Monet Flowers and Vines Brooch or Pin - image 1 of 6

From the 1940s Monet's Flowers and Vines Broach or Pin is filled with Austrian Crystals of 1, 2 and 3mm. 56 light catching colored stones as I count, I don't know the exact names but if I had to describe the hue's they are a luminous green, Sunrise Yellow, Cloudless Sky Blue and a deep Spring Lilac before the buds open.

On a circular upward twining vine of triple plated gold-tone metal (as is the entire pin) we see what must be new spring leaves with a green stone in each leaf followed by 6 multi colored flowers. All of the faceted stones are bezel set and twinkle when the light catches them. The entire pin is 1 ½” wide at it's widest point. The perfect size for a lapel or shoulder I think.

Turning the pin over we see the rolling thumb clasp on the pin which locks securely. There is some play to the pin stem, but I believe this is intentional, as the pin locks from the top and not the bottom. Once locked in place it is very tight and secure. It is most likely a Monet design initiative.

We also see the word MONET in block letters without the copyright mark, which means it was made before 1955, and the use of the Austrian Stones (referred to often as Swarovski today) was one of the design features of the 1940s in most of the creations by them. Later years were inclined to be
bi-colored metals with very little gemstone usage. The construction of this pins pin assembly is also an indication that it was not earlier than the 1940s.

Condition, the entire piece is in excellent vintage condition with no visible damage seen to any part of it.

Monet is well sought after, and the earlier pieces are especially true of this.

My apologies for some of the pictures being a bit dark, I am not a professional, and this pin was truly a challenge to photograph. Dependent on the lighting I used, the stones changed appearance. So I wanted to give you both clear looks at the entire pin, and the the stone coloration.

But no need to try and decide if this beauty is for you or not, Take it home with you and live with it for a few days before you make up your mind.
