I bought this in the early 90s. (1993 to be exact) as a “Reward” to myself when I got promoted at the Bank I worked for. It is a 10K Gold Bismarck Link Bracelet with six Red Garnets by The BAITH Company, Inc.
This very dainty bracelet measures 7” in length, and weighs 2.2g including the 6 oval prong set garnets. Each faceted open backed stone is 5 mm long and 3 mm wide and comprise the center 1/3 of the bracelet. The other 2/3 are comprised of Bismark Link Chin. Bismark Link chain is made of two “Curb” chains that are meticulously soldered together with 10k Gold (in this case) to form one, flexible, side by side “Curb” or chain. The bracelet closes with an easy to use claw clasp.
The claw has the mark of 417 on the movable pincer bar, which is the same as saying 10K Gold, It is also marked 10K on the metal finding that the clasp is attached to by a jump ring. The opposite side of this finding has the makers mark of BAITH. On the other end of the bracelet, that finding; which the claw will hook into, is only marked with the 10K fineness mark.
Condition is excellent vintage. No marks or scratches that can be seen by the unaided eye. Only slight light scuffs to the clasp. Stones are not scratched, nor cracked.
Because my hands are a bit arthritic, I am passing this on to the next person with a reason to celebrate. I hope it brings you as much pleasure as it has me.
No hassle returns with no reason necessary. Do see my terms to the right of this listing in the drop down boxes.
BAITH was the mark of a company that was started in Lower Manhattan near SOHO in New York sometime in 1989, and incorporated in 1991. They later moved to Long Island. Bracelets were their signature item but also made necklaces, pendants and earrings with fine jewelry a specialty.
The company was sold by Baith founder Aday Akdemir in 2002 to JewelAmerica, Akdemir then went to work for JewelAmerica as vice president of merchandising and sales. Use of the name Baith was discontinued.
JewelAmerica had previously been known as “Oro Dall’Italia” (translates to “Gold From Italy”) in 1983 when the company was founded, but changed the name to JewelAmerica in 2000 to better reflect what the company felt was the direction they were taking. As of 2007 the company stopped updating their website information, I was not able to find out if they were still in business or not, inquiries have not been answered.
