Another fun piece of vintage Heraldic Costume Jewelry, this time unmarked as to the maker and about twenty or so years newer. I believe this to have been from around the 70's Once again the Heraldic Crest is very close to the original and features a large crown over two shields, which signifies that two families were joined in marriage. Beside each shield is a Rampant Lion. The Pin is made of an antiqued goldtone metal but the shields look to be silver and enamel and added to the pin, and not a manufactured part of the pin. Almost as a charm would have been added. (I am speculating here when I say that) The entire Pin measures 2” wide by 2” high. A wonderful size for a jacket. I honestly do not know for sure which countries this crest represents, however it could be Germany and France. There are records of the crest's and meanings of them online that documents European Houses of the Monarchy back to antiquity. I will, however, let that up to you to determine should you choose. The back of the pin shows that this Brooch can also be used as a pendant with a securely attached ring for a chain. (not included) The ring can be seen in one of my photo's and it is noted on the picture that it is at the top of the pin on the crown portion. The back is textured to give it a hammered appearance. Pin action is good and the thumb clasp works as it should.
Condition: Overall is good vintage. It does show some wear on the shields, however this is actually slight and the very large looking dings in the enameling are actually quite tiny. This is the trouble with taking close up high resolution photo's, the tiniest flaws can look huge.
