Bought in 1962 When Catherine went to the Seattle Washington World's Fair. The original red and clear plastic box contains two unopened decks of standard playing cards. I am offering only one complete sets of the double decks in the same design, as one set has sold.
Each deck has the same Space needle scene showing the top portion of the platform against the Seattle city backdrop. Just further past the city is the Cascade Mountain Range with Mount Rainier showing majestically high above all the other peaks. Only the color of the decks being different between the two. One is a Sea Green and white over wash sort of coloring and one is an Ocean Blue and white over wash. I have two sets of two decks. Each are exactly alike and in the same condition.
Both decks in each box retain the original Playing Card Tax Stamp and the cellophane over wrap. The over wrap is not sealed at the opposite end from the Tax stamp, and as you can see in my photographs the one decks cellophane is slightly rumpled at that end. The decks also have clearly never been opened.
Besides the cellophane, the only other issue I would point out to you is the Gold foil paper under the decks has allowed the tax stamp to darken it in the shape of the stamp. This too can be seen in my photographs. Otherwise this is a pristine double deck of playing cards.
They are not marked as to the manufacturer, in fact they are not marked as to being World's Fair Playing Cards and this is why I am not listing them as such. These cards puzzle me, but it may be that they were printed in haste ( as sometimes can happen) and the Fair logo did not appear? I have other Worlds Fair memorabilia from that trip, and actually sold the guide book she got there here on Ruby Lane several years ago. The fact that there are NO Seattle World Fair playing cards to be had tells me that perhaps my theory is correct. I would love to know the answer but I don't have the time to look into this more. (be careful someone is printing counterfeit cards on Zazzle so know what you are buying.)
