This dark beauty is a little bit smaller than other D&E butterflies I am selling elsewhere in my shop. Measuring 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" long his darker, smokey-topaz coloration more than makes up for size.
He contains 25 of the beautiful colored Swarovski stones in sizes ranging from Round, 3mm and 4mm, to a 10mm Marquis, is placed in golden toned metal settings.
Curled, sculpted, gold colored, antennas are securely soldered to this piece. His bowed pin assembly is in perfect working order and will hold securely.
Condition: As near to `new' condition as you could want. I don't often say that about a piece of jewelry's condition. But, I can find not marks or scratches on the stones, no dings or blemishes on the metal.
This pin has been extensively researched, checked and double checked by me as well as asking the opinion of another knowledgeable dealer. All information indicates that it is truly by DeLizza & Elster. I came by this conclusion by reason of construction. High quality faceted stones were used. Puddling of solder is a consistent indication of construction by D&E. Bowed pin findings, soldered into place were also used by D&E on some examples. The antenna used for the butterfly has been used as decorative embellishments on other D&E pieces. And the fact that the piece is not flat, but curved all indicate that this was manufactured by DeLizza & Elster.
If you would like more information on confirming this kind of jewelry you can Google, DeLizza & Elster Vintage Jewelry Identification. There are folks that have talked with Frank DeLizza himself and confirmed many here to fore unknown pieces as well as giving oodles of identification information. There are also some wonderful books by a few of these same folks that you can study also.
