This is a really wonderful candy or biscuit tin and somewhat difficult to find. The tin is oval shaped and has an embossed or raised ocean liner or ship on the top lid. The ship has three smokestacks. Below the ship is an embossed emblem. On the side of the tin are great ocean liners of the world. The ships are The Savannah 1819, The Great Eastern 1858, The Scotia 1862, The City of Rome 1882, The Mauretania 1907, and The Majestic 1921.
Our research has led us to believe that the ship on the lid is the Queen Mary. The Queen Mary was launched in the presence of King George V and Queen Mary. The date of launching was September 26, 1934.
This is a great find for tin collectors or for collectors of nautical items.
The tin measures approximately 7 ¼" long, 5" wide and 3" high.
The tin has a lot of wear especially on the lid. There is wear on the sides of the tin also making it difficult to clearly see all of the ocean liners. There is oxidation on the bottom and inside. There is a very slight dent on the bottom rim.
