This is a wonderful early hunting scene litho. It is set in a field with stacks of hay bundled up. There are two hunting dogs and two birds. The dogs look like spaniels. One is black and white and the other is red. The birds may be grouse. The colors are rich shades of yellow, brown and golden reds. The sky is muted and grayish with lots of clouds. There is a brightness through the clouds. Possibly a storm is approaching.
We don't know who the artist is. Through our research we suspect that L. M. Johnson was a printing firm in business in Chicago, during the late 1800's into the early 1900's.
The frame measures approximately 14" by 18". The surface of the print that shows is approximately 15" by 12".
The litho is in fairly good condition with the exception of a pinprick showing on the bottom right hand corner and a water stain in the top right hand corner. The black wood and gold gilt frame shows some wear to the finish but can easily be touched up.
