This is a nice oval antique wood frame with carved detailing and gilded wood surrounding the glass. It is in fairly good shape for its age. There are some stress cracks on the gilded wood surrounding the glass due to age and shrinkage of the wood. There is some oxidation on the gilding. There are also a few dings in the wood and scratches in the wood frame itself.
The lovely fashion print dates to the 1860's. It came out of a fashion magazine and was cut to fit into this beautiful antique oval wood frame. The print shows four young ladies dressed in very wide and frilly gowns. The colors in the print are very muted except for the pinks in one of the gowns and the blue trim on another that stand out from the rest of the print. There is a lot of detail in the gowns and in the background of the print. The hair accessories are very elegant. The print is in fairly good condition, but there are two small stains in the background area.
The oval frame measures approximately 14" by 12". The visible part of the print measures approximately 9 ½" by 7 ¼".
