This is a very hard to find transferware plate by Charles Mason in the Mount Zion pattern. The color is a grayish green. It is marked on the back with the maker’s mark C J M & Co. The mark dates the plate from 1829 to 1845.
The plate has scalloped edges and a beautifully decorated border. The center has a lovely scene with people, camels and the Mosque of David.
There is expected crazing consistent with age and typical firing flaws.
It measures approximately 10” in diameter.
