This is a lovely little butter pat from Sandland Ware. It has one of the collectible Dickens' characters on it from his novel Martin Chuzzlewit. The front of the small plate or butter pat reads "Sairey Gamp Entertaining Betsy Prig. The scene shows two women dressed in Victorian garb sitting at a small tea table in front of a cheery fire. It has a gold rim. It measures approximately 3 ¼" in diameter. It is marked on the back Sandland Ware with two hands in a handshake, Lancaster & Sandland, Ltd., Hanley, England. The condition is fairly good but there is light crazing all over. It has no cracks or chips or staining.
This would be a great addition to your Dickens' dinnerware and a wonderful collector piece.
We have two of these available. Both are in the same condition.
