This is a beautiful floral plate made by The C. M. Hutschenreuther Company. The rim is gently scalloped. It has raised embossed leaves that are gold gilded. The rim of the plate is gold gilded. The plate is a bright white. The center is decorated with a large orange flower and a smaller purple flower. There are leaves in different shades of green.
The back is stamped with the manufacturer's mark an eagle over the initials C. T. This mark was used by C. Thielsch & Co. that was acquired by C. M. Hutschenreuther in 1918. They used the Tielsch name until after World War II. The mark is very faint and barely discernable. It is also marked: Made in Germany. It is also numbered 6774 and 207.
The plate dates to around the second quarter of the 1900's.
It measures approximately 7 ½" in diameter.
It is in good condition but there is wear on the gilding along the rim. There are no chips, cracks or crazing.
The C. Thielsch & Co began in 1845. It was located at Altwasser. It made household, hotel, and decorative porcelain, along with coffee and tea sets. The C. M. Hutschenreuther Company in Hohenberg acquired most of the stock of Tielsch in 1918 and merged the factory with its own. Hutschenreuther continued using the C. Tielsch name until after WWII.
