This vase is beautifully executed and exquisitely decorated. The base is a lovely emerald green with deep blue leaves and ornamentation. Raised gold detailing frames the portrait and center of the vase. Gold also outlines the ornamentation on the vase and on the rim. The portrait is skillfully painted and depicts a lovely Victorian woman wearing a gorgeous huge medium blue hat with light blue netting tied into a bow on the side. The woman has brown eyes and dark blond hair. It is unsigned. There is either a manufacturer's mark or artist's name on the bottom, but it is illegible to me. There are numbers on the bottom. Incised "2974", painted "D.8707" & "G439". Also there is incised a D within a circle and also what looks like a J.
It measures approximately 3 ½ inches in diameter at its widest point. The height is 7 inches.
The condition is very good. There is some wear to the gilding and minor paint loss to the emerald green due to age. There are no cracks, chips or crazing.
Age: circa early 1900's. .
