This is a beautiful light blue transfer ware platter in the Albion Pattern by Sampson Hancock & Co. The border on this platter is quite unusual. It looks like seaweed interspersed with small cottages and two people. The center scene has three men in a small boat on a lake or river with sailboats and buildings in the background. There are three stilt marks on the back.
It measures 15 1/8” long x 12 1/8” wide by 3/4” deep.
The platter dates to around the 1860‘s.
The condition is good. There are some knife marks and three minor manufacturing imperfections on the front where the stilt marks show, as well as crazing due to age. There is a crack in the curvature of the well that probably occurred in the manufacture.
