This is a beautiful early brown transferware soup bowl from the Thomas Edwards pottery in the Waverly pattern. The manufacturer’s mark is impressed on the back.

It has a pretty floral border. The center of the bowl has a romantic scene with a lady and a gentleman standing in front of a lake. There is a castle on the other side of the lake and flowering trees. A bridge is on the left and a covered shelter on the right in the foreground. The bowl is 14 sided.

The bowl dates to 1841.

It measures approximately 10 3/8” in diameter and 3/4” deep.

Manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust bump and unevenness in the transfer, etc. There is expected light crazing consistent with age. There are no cracks or chips. It is in very nice condition. Please be sure to look carefully at the pictures for condition. This is a really lovely item and an increasingly difficult pattern to find.
