Vintage 1960’s Little Gem Toy Sewing Machine with Instructions – Extra Needle – Thread – NIB
This vintage Little Gem toy sewing machine is so sweet! It is constructed of plastic with a lime green base and a white body. The Little Gem decal in light green with white daisies is affixed along the front top section. The plate is a shiny silver, and the lime green foot lifts with a little handle. The needle is held in place with a set screw on the inside of the foot. The spool of thread sits on the flexible spool pin and runs to the thread take-up and thread guide to the needle. Stitching is done by rotating the handwheel.
A hinged section on the front of the base lifts up so the toy sewing machine fits securely in the box. The label affixed to the bottom of the machine says, “Model 6103, Made in England for Western Stamping Corporation, Jackson, Michigan, 49203. U.S. and foreign patents pending.” An instruction sheet, a needle threader, a spool of red Clark’s thread, and an extra needle are included. The box is blue-green, yellow, and lime green with a picture of a happy child admiring the sewing machine on the front and back and a picture of the sewing machine on the top and bottom.
The sewing machine base measures 3 ¼ by 7 ½ inches and it is 4 ¾ inches high. The box measures 7 by 4 by 5 ¾ inches. This toy is NIB (New in Box). The Little Gem decal on the machine is slightly faded, and there is a scrape on the front of the box and a bit of rubbing on the back. Both the machine and box are otherwise in pristine condition. This 1960’s toy sewing machine is a great addition to a toy collection or a whimsical gift for someone who loves to sew.
