This bolo tie with its Seattle Space Needle slider takes us back to the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. The bolo shows a finely detailed Space Needle as it was in 1962 prior to any renovations or additions. The Space Needle in in relief against the gold-tone textured background, and a braided design embellishes the edges. The cord is faux leather braided in a diamond pattern of gold and white with traditional gold-tone tips.
The Space Needle slider measures 1 by 1 3/8 inches, and the cord measures 17 ½ inches from the center back to the tips or 35 inches total. There is a tiny bit of color loss on the Space Needle and the prongs of the slider have some discoloration, but the bolo tie is otherwise in excellent vintage condition. Bolo ties are also known as bola ties or string ties and were traditionally worn as western wear. Recently, however, they have gained popularity as an accessory for both men and women. This bolo tie with its iconic Space Needle is great for the memorabilia collector or as the perfect touch for a night out in Seattle.
