This vintage tie is such a great tie! It is a deep navy blue and would be very sedate except for the fascinating hand-inscribed line drawing. The line drawing is symmetrical and consists of swirls, points, dots, and whorls. To me it looks like an artist’s version of a Rorschach Inkblot Test which is an excellent thing to put on a tie! However, it was pointed out to me that the tie holds a puzzle. The line drawing is actually the original owner’s name with a mirrored reflection of the name.
The tie is signed by the artist at the bottom end inside the tie, but it is difficult to read. A small label stitched to the seam reads, “100% Poly, WPL 6152, Made in U.S.A.” The WPL label sets the date of the tie to before 1959.
The necktie measures 56 inches in length and is 3 inches across the tip. It is in excellent vintage condition and is clean with no spots, stains, rips, holes, or scents. This necktie is sure to be an excellent conversation starter. You can encourage people to solve the puzzle regarding the line drawing, or you can use it like a Rorschach test to find out what your friends are thinking about!
