This vintage jacquard silk necktie with its peacock design is simply exceptional! The design of wing and tail feathers is stitched in carmine red and pine green against a navy blue jacquard weave. The eyes of the peacock feathers are tipped in gold. The patterns and colors are understated, rendered subtly and with exceptional artistry. The tie was created by Taya in Ginza Tokyo, Japan, a men’s wear store with its own workshop that has been creating original designs since 1905. The label says “Extraquality Design and Fabric Exclusive with Taya, Tokyo Ginza, Silk 100%”.
This 1970’s necktie measures 54 inches in length and is 3 ½ inches in width. It is in remarkable vintage condition, showing little if any use. It is clean with no spots, stains, thread pulls, holes, or scents. In addition to being a beautiful tie, it has a design significant to many cultures. Peacocks are symbols of compassion, kindness, protection, and good luck. They were also traditionally associated with royalty. This unique and exceptional necktie will make a handsome addition to your accessories.
