This vintage Beatles silk tie commemorates the song “A Hard Day’s Night.” The necktie is in mint unused condition and comes with the original Beatles and Manhattan Menswear Group label.
The tie’s stylized design depicts a muscular man in a red hard hat carrying a red lunch box returning home from work. There are stars and a sliver of moon in an indigo sky, and he is looking up a hill to a house with lit windows. The song was released in 1964, and both song and album by the same name topped the charts in the US and the UK. The often-sung lyrics begin: “It's been a hard day's night, And I've been working like a dog. It’s been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log. But when I get home to you, I find the things that you do, Will make me feel all right.”
The design on the back of the blade includes an imprinted label with the name of the song and the release date of July 10, 1964. The Apple Corps label has a green apple against black and says “The Beatles, 1991 Apple Corps Limited.” The original tag is attached to the label and is in the shape of a vinyl record with a picture of an apple and the Beatles name. The back of the label says, “Produced by Manhattan Menswear Group, 1990 Apple Corps Limited, Design: 1992 Determined Productions Inc.” The tip of the tie says “Imported 100% Silk/Soie, Manhattan Menswear Group” and “Made in U.S.A.” on the back of that label.
Ties inspired by the Beatles songs were produced for several years by the Manhattan Menswear Group beginning in 1991. This classic 100% vintage silk tie measures 57 inches in length and is 4 inches across at the tip. The necktie is in unused mint condition, so there are no spots, scents, or other typical signs of use. There are pressure marks from the tie hanger which is shown in the last photo. It is rare to find a Beatles tie in this condition with the original tag attached. This is an excellent choice for a musician, a Beatles fan, or a hard- working man who likes classic rock ‘n roll. It is also perfect for anyone who just likes a great looking tie!
