This 1950’s black corde convertible evening clutch with its sparkling rhinestone clasp is a real gem. The clutch is has a soft baguette shape with the black corde softly gathered into a hinged fabric-covered metal frame and piping running along the sides and bottom. The rocking latch has a rhinestone prong-set into a decorative gold-toned setting. The bag opens to reveal a desert sand colored satin lining with a slip pocket and the name Garay inscribed on the pocket. The cable chain handle is attached to a hinge which swings into the bag, converting it into a clutch.
The bag measures 4 ½ inches by 10 inches, and the handle has a 5 ½ inch drop. The fabric has a faded area on a section of the bottom, and the lining shows a bit of wear as well as a water mark about the size of a half dollar. The bag is otherwise in excellent vintage condition with no other stains, rips, holes, or scents. This excellent little convertible bag is a perfect evening accessory or great for casual wear with a bit of added flair.
