The focus of this striking necklace is a stylized arrowhead carved from red jasper. The jasper arrowhead is a rich rust color with natural striations of a lighter color. For the basis of the necklace I chose red flake jasper beads with lighter inclusions of quartz because they echo the coloration of the arrowhead. I also included sections of magnesite heishis in a similar color separated with small octagonal gold-plate spacer beads. A hook clasp completes the design.
The carved arrowhead measures 7/8 inch by 1 5/8 inches, and the necklace measures 20 ¼ inches in length, but this length can be adjusted if you wish. I designed this necklace so it can easily be worn by a man or a woman as it is a versatile style. Jasper has been used in jewelry from ancient times, and jasper jewelry has been found in archeological sites throughout the world. Red jasper has traditionally been a warrior’s stone, representing justice, loyalty, and inner strength. It is also considered a stone of strength and vitality and is used to increase creative energy and stimulate positive action. These powerful qualities augment the distinctive design of this necklace.
