Black is the dominant color of this mens choker created from obsidian, carved bone beads, and hematite. Polished obsidian barrel beads form the foundation of the necklace. I captured the barrel beads between pairs of hematite rondelles and alternated this pattern with bone beads. The black bone beads are etched with a cross-hatch design carved to reveal the white color beneath, providing contrast to the obsidian and hematite. A gunmetal hook clasp with a banded accent completes the design.
The necklace measures 19 ½ inches in length which is a good choker length for a man, but I can change the length if you wish. Obsidian has a long history of both utilitarian and decorative purposes. Ancient peoples used obsidian to create knives and arrowheads, and in the middle ages, obsidian was worn as a protective talisman. It has also been considered a stone of truth. These qualities add impact to the dynamic design of this necklace.
