This long and exquisite necklace captures the fiery shades of a desert sunset. The Picasso jasper focal is simply stunning! This stone is elemental in nature, created by the forces of the earth to produce an image in brilliant oranges and browns that replicates a desert sunset.
The necklace itself reflects the colors of the Picasso jasper focal with shades of orange, honey, caramel, and gold. I chose lovely translucent carnelian heishis in shades of honey and caramel as the foundation beads. These beads are separated by tiny square gold-plated beads and larger faceted aventurine beads in sandy hues. The carnelian and aventurine are interspersed with antiqued gold plated tube beads with a twisting beaded design. Trios of lovely variegated agate tube beads lead to the hammered gold-plated toggle.
The long necklace measures 27 ½ inches in length with the 1 1/8 by 2 5/8 inch jasper focal adding length. Carnelian has been used in jewelry since ancient times and in some cultures could only be worn by nobility. It is considered a healing stone as well as a power stone and is believed to protect against negative emotions as well as increase creative energy. It is thought that aventurine brings inner peace and increases confidence. Jasper is a grounding stone and was once considered a warrior’s stone, giving the user courage and inner strength. The balanced and lovely design of this necklace is augmented by the powerful qualities of the gemstones. Catch the fire of a desert sunset and wear it draped around your neck!
