This exquisite opera length necklace of genuine amethyst and pearls has been created from gemstones and freshwater pearls of outstanding quality. The result is luxurious and elegant. The freshwater pearls are consistent in size and are so lustrous they seem almost luminous. I combined the pearls with rich purple grade A African amethyst which has been precision cut and captures the light beautifully. For an extra bit of sparkle, I added smaller faceted rock quartz crystal beads. A sterling silver s-clasp completes the design.
Each of the matching earrings has a teardrop shaped freshwater pearl, an amethyst bead, and a rock crystal bead. This sparkling combination is suspended from sterling silver French style earwires and measure 1 3/8 inches from the piercing. The necklace measures 31 luxuriant inches which allows you to wear it long or loop it around your neck to be worn as a two strand choker.
The traditional birthstone for February is Amethyst, and the June birthstone is the pearl. Pearls have been called “teardrops of the moon” and are believed to be the world’s oldest gem. Some cultures believe that pearls symbolize purity and spiritual transformation. Pearls are an excellent combination with amethyst which is believed to be a grounding stone, giving courage and reducing chaos. Historically, amethyst was reserved for royalty. These wonderful qualities augment the classic design of this exceptional and elegant necklace and matching earrings.
