Offered is an exquisite Edwardian era sterling silver, enameled, marcasite locket with the matching enameled station chain / necklace. This piece is so lovely, I'm tempted to keep it myself, and I must confess, I wear it every time I have something pink on!! This stunning large locket is a deep rose pink, with guilloche enameling on the front and back. The front of the locket is also adorned with an elegant swirl of sparkling silver marcasites lending to the Art Nouveau style of the piece. The chain / necklace is a perfect match and is original to the locket.
This beautiful set is in excellent vintage / antique condition, and looks as though it has never been worn! There is no loss of enamel, no wear! The locket retains it's original photo rings and celluloid covers. The locket does not "snap" closed, but it closes, stays closed, and you need to use your thumbnail to open it. I examined the inside and there does not appear to be anything missing or worn, so perhaps just how this piece was made? The set is marked on the bale of the locket, Sterling & Germany. The enamel station chain also marked on the jump ring, but I can't make it out, it almost looks like the Meyle & Mayer dragonfly mark, but it's so tiny, I'm not sure.
The chain measures 26" around wearable length down to the lavalier enamel drop, the drop is about 1" long and then the locket measures 2" long from the top of the bale. The deep pink color of the enamel is sublime, it practically glows. Really an elegant antique piece jewelry! For special items and discounts, follow my instagram feed.
