Offered is an exquisite lime green Czech foiled art glass sautoir necklace. If you visit my shop often you will notice that I have a passion for old Czechoslovakia art glass and jewelry. This necklace just takes my breath away! The brilliant, shimmering lime green glass beads must have been somewhat daring for the times. It was certainly meant to draw the eye.
This necklace is not marked so I'm assuming it dates from around 1910 -1925 period, late Edwardian to Art Deco eras. Possibly a Flapper piece. The necklace is silver tone, most likely rhodium plated. But it's the brilliant hand blown faceted art glass that takes my breath away. The smaller beads in the necklace are solid green satin glass, however the larger beads are all faceted on all sides and each bead has several "eyes", not a true peacock eye, but similar. The polka dots are all iridescent foiled in the colors of magenta or hot pink, turquoise and cobalt blue.
This necklace is in very good to excellent vintage condition with no damage. There is some patina to the connecting O rings, but no verdigris or corrosion. I don't find any damage to the beautiful glass. The necklace measures 30" around wearable around length and hangs down 5 5/8" at the drop. It has an hidden push in bead clasp (shown in the last photo), but the necklace fits easily over the head
If you love old Bohemian / Gablonz glass that was handmade by a master a glass blower and has survived the test of time, then you will want to add this unusual beauty to your collection!
