Offered is a rare sterling silver & enamel brooch designed by archibald knox for liberty & co, The brooch has a wonderful knox design set with peacock eye feather blue green enamels. The subtly textured finish is typical of the art nouveau & arts & crafts period and of superb quality. This pin would have been sold through the Liberty & co store in London, regent street as part of the Cymric line. There were several designers using this medium of design and decoration during this era, among those, the most notable were, Archibald Knox, Bernard Cuzner Jessie m King, Theodor Fahrner, Murrle Bennett, Charles Horner and James Fenton.
I have offered several of these enamels in the past, but they have all been in button form. This is the only I've had that is in brooch form. I do believe the old "C" clasp is original to piece. This brooch is marked with the anchor, lion, and lower case "f". This is sterling silver piece produced in Birmingham in 1905. It is also marked " Cymaric ". The pin measures 1 1/4" across.
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition with no damage, no missing enamel. It has not been cleaned or polished and does have patina thru out. I will leave the decision of cleaning the brooch up to the new owner. This is a beautiful pin. Don't miss your chance to add this rare beauty to your collection!
