Offered is a vividly colored French Egyptian Revival enameled mirror locket. Although not marked this lovely antique locket has the typical jewel tone color scheme popular in wares made in France during the late 1800s to early 1900s, cobalt, peach scarlet, gold and white. This perhaps was a chatelaine for a rouge pot or powder puff compact. Possibly a souvenir of a Grand Tour or the opening of King Tut's tomb!
This piece appears to be gilt / gold wash over brass. It is in very good vintage condition with no damage. There is some wear consistent with age, nothing distracting or readily noticeable. The locked is on a heavy belcher style chain, again gilt over brass. The chain / necklace measures 28" around wearable length. The locket measures 1 5/8" long x 1 1/2" across and about 1/2" deep. Locket closes securely. Would be a great little piece for a keepsake, pill box or a striking addition to any collection or wardrobe.
