Having been born into an artistic family, Edgardo Abbozzo taught at the Fine Art Academy in Perugia and in 1962 he became director of the Art Institute in Deruta. Worked with Lucio Fontana and Edgardo Mannucci and exhibited his ceramic work and sculptures widely in Italy and abroad. In later years he expanded his output and created exclusive pieces of gold and precious metal jewellery, many used in theatre sets. The silver, gold-plated sets he produced in the mid-1960s were inspired by the antiquities of Egypt and Ancient Rome.
