Fashioned from light cream silk chiffon and hand embroidered with pearls and beads. A cream and white pearls fringe completes this wonderful hand-tailored dress, the style of which exudes the height of the roaring 1920's opulence.
This exquisite dress was hand-tailored at the end of the 1960's in Rome and was created for Diana Torrieri (1913-2007) a well-known theatre actress of the era, who was starring at the time at the San Babila Theatre in Milan. Dresses of this kind were worn in the 1920s and earlier by iconic dancers such as Josephine Baker, Maud Allan and Isadora Duncan. The last image here shows a similar theatre outfit of that era.
