A beautiful example of a Victorian Scottish Agate Brooch set in Silver, which is unmarked, as is common with these pieces. With an attractive petal shape, the Brooch measures 2 1/8 inches in diameter, and fastens with an extended 'T' hinged pin and 'C' clasp. The polished pieces of Agate have beveled edges, and are backed by a single piece of Slate. In beautiful condition, although there are 3 small areas of damage - one of the stones has some damage measuring 3/8 inch along the outer edge, one has a small sliver missing on the beveled edge near the centre of the brooch, and another has a stable hairline crack. The first area of damage, although visible to the eye, is not immediately noticeable, while the last two are virtually impossible to see without using a jewelers loupe, and are certainly not noticeable when the brooch is being worn. Even the area of damage that is visible to the naked eye does not detract from this impressive Brooch.
