A cute Art Deco era silver color metal Staybrite Scottie Dog Brooch which has a dimpled surface to make it look like it is covered in marcasites. These Staybrite brooches were made by the Charles Horner factory in England and were made to imitate the fashionable marcasite jewelry of the time. Most of these Staybrite pieces are unsigned, as is this one.
The Brooch measures just over 1 1/2 inches side to side and 3/4 inch from the top of the dog's ears to the bottom of his front paws. There is a tiny red rhinestone in the dog's eye and the brooch has been highlighted with red enamel paint on his collar and black enamel paint on his ears and tail. The Brooch fastens with a 'c' style clasp.
In excellent condition for its age, there is some wear to the red and black enamel paint.
